A daily checklist for ventilated COVID-19 patients

A checklist for ventilated COVID-19 patients has been designed to be used as a daily ward round. It includes three key steps that will have a big impact to the outcome of patients with COVID-19:

  1. Safe ventilation; ventilating a patient at 6-8ml/kg of IDEAL body weight, and maintaining a PEEP around 10 or higher.
  2. Early use of proning of patients.
  3. Drugs to prevent harm, reducing the risk of DVTs and PEs, mucolytics, early feed.

PBW to ventilator tidal volume; a conversion chart

Ventilate at 6-8ml kg-1 of PREDICTED body weight (PBW). Predicted body weight is determined from height.
