COVID-19 Diagnostic Pathway – The Role of Radiology

We should treat COVID-19 in the same way we treat all other lower respiratory tract infections:

  • Perform a chest x-ray
  • Perform a chest CT scan in patients where there is severe oxygenation failure but unremarkable or normal chest radiograph
  • Radiography is an unspecific test for COVID-19 and should be used in conjunction with Viral PCR to confirm the diagnosis
