New consolidation on a chest x-ray
Step 2 of the All Wales Secondary Care Community Acquired Pneumonia Guideline focuses on the confirmation of Community Acquired Pneumonia with presence of new consolidation on the chest x-ray. If there is no new consolidation on chest x-ray, look for alternative sources of infection, treat COPD and Bronchiectasis exacerbations as per relevant All-Wales guidelines and consider treatment with antibiotics for a specific group of patients.
