Identification and Management of Refugees at Risk of Drug-Resistant TB

Asylum seekers and refugees are at high-risk of reactivation of Tuberculosis. Early screening, particularly to detect active TB, is vital to exclude ongoing transmission and ensure treatment success.

The aim of this programme is to rapidly identify Ukrainian refugees at risk of TB and manage appropriately in the community by local TB teams or refer into hospitals.

Data Dashboard

As part of this programme, there is a national data collection effort, recording the screening of all refugees at risk of drug-resistant TB arriving in Wales. The information collected will help coordinate healthcare provision and policy.
